(Part 3 of the “My Journey with the Lord” Series)
Am I Really God’s Favorite?
If you’ve followed my journey so far, you’ve heard how Jesus saved me at 16, called me to all nations at 17, and has faithfully led me through ten years of walking with Him.
After all this, I can confidently say: I feel like God’s favorite.
But here’s the truth, I’m not. At least, not in the way we humans think about “favorites.” Scripture says plainly:
“God shows no partiality.” – Romans 2:11
God doesn’t love me more because of anything I have done or will do. His love is not earned. His love is not ranked. His love is perfect and impartial.
What Favor Really Means
While the Lord doesn’t play favorites, the Bible does speak about His favor. Favor is His blessing, His presence, and His provision poured out on those who walk with Him.
The Lord shows favor to the righteous, to those who love His Word, follow His commands, and align themselves with His will. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about obedience. It’s choosing to say yes when He speaks, and no when sin calls. And when you live that way, you begin to notice it:
- His provision in unexpected ways
- His comfort in deep valleys
- His peace that doesn’t make sense in the middle of chaos
- His joy that overflows even when nothing else is going “right”
That’s what I mean when I say I feel like His favorite, I’m living in the goodness of His presence and promises.
The Holy Spirit: The Gift That Changes Everything
The greatest expression of God’s favor is that He gave us Himself. Jesus didn’t just die and rise again, He ascended to the Father and sent the Holy Spirit to live in us. That same Spirit who hovered over creation, empowered King David, spoke through the prophets, and raised Christ from the dead now dwells in every believer.
Because of the Holy Spirit, I have not lived a single day in the last ten years without the presence of God. He convicts me, guides me, strengthens me, corrects me, and fills my life with His love.
How You Can Walk in God’s Favor
Simply put, you just have to follow the Great Commandment, the one Jesus said was the foundation for all others:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:37-39
If you love God fully, His Spirit will lead you to follow His ways. If you love your neighbor as yourself, you will live out His heart in the world. This is where true favor flows, in the place of obedience and love.
So here’s my challenge to you
- Love God with everything. Make time for Him. Read His Word. Listen for His voice. Trust His plans more than your own!
- Love your neighbor as yourself. Show kindness. Forgive quickly. Serve sacrificially. Share the hope you’ve found in Jesus!
- Make His name known amongst your nation and if He leads you to the nations!
And if you don’t yet know Him, start here: ask Jesus to make Himself known to you. Invite Him to forgive you, save you, and fill you with His Spirit. Luke 11:9-13 says if we ask, seek, and knock, the Father will give us the greatest gift— His very presence through the Spirit of the Living God.
Your Turn to Say Yes
Ten years ago, I said yes to Jesus. Nine years ago, I said yes to His mission, today, I’m still saying yes, because every yes to Him has led to more life, more joy, and more love than I could ever have imagined.
You are invited into the same life. A life marked by love for Jesus, love for people, and the favor of walking with Him every single day.
So, will you say yes?
In Christ,
